CSL’s policy of innovation in the workplace naturally extends to the Research and Development laboratory. The task of the lab is twofold: to develop prototype materials for new applications and to thoroughly scrutinize the procedures required for ongoing operations.

Following rigid CSL Quality Control, ISO and UL procedures as well as industry standards, examinations of all batches determine both specification and process suitability. The lab is equipped with mixers, ovens, viscometers and a variety of test instruments to measure physical properties of materials. Using these instruments, the condition of all incoming and in-process materials can be screened and reported before release to production.

Enhanced testing of monomer process suitability is achieved through gas chromatography. This device permits us to adjust process parameters allowing CSL to identify and reduce variation for improved product quality.

It is the Research and Development efforts that keep CSL in the forefront of RTV silicone technology. The patent-pending VOC-free, 100% solids coating technology is just one example of this.

Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) makes use of comprehensive computer databases that enables the answering of customers’ questions on inventory, work in process, completion dates and delivery status.

Access to road, sea and air transportation is excellent. The facility is served by all major land carriers, air freight forwarders out of Toronto and sea freight lines out of Halifax, Vancouver and Seattle. Ongoing co-ordination between the Shipping department and these various carriers ensures reliable delivery.

CSL’s network of sales representatives works closely with the company’s Manufacturing and Shipping groups to determine production lead times. This strong "team" approach to customer relations is maintained through diligent efforts and the resulting service-oriented attitude presents optimum productivity and ultimate customer satisfaction.
